MESA (Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis) is a large-scale cardiovascular population study (>6,500 participants) conducted in six centres in the USA. It aims to investigate the manifestation of subclinical to clinical cardiovascular disease before signs and symptoms develop. Since MESA participants were determined as healthy during recruitment, patients of this data are identified as asymptomatic subjects. The overall demographics of the MESA study were men and women aged 45-84 years from heterogeneous US population of White, African-American, Hispanic and Chinese ethnicity.
The Cardiac Atlas Project hosts part of MESA MRI data (2,450 cases) from the baseline examination. We have also derived semi-automatically ~300 3D left ventricular models from them by using the CIM software (Cardiac Image Modeller, University of Auckland, NZ).
Please be aware that the images were acquired using old GRE (Gradient Recalled Echo) protocol that are not commonly used for cine MR sequence nowadays. It might not be compatible with the current SSFP protocol. We do not also share contours and other clinical parameters from the MESA study.
